![]() ![]() If I recall correctly, in Age of Mythology, advancing to a new age automatically implements all the technological research that you had available in your current age.įurthermore, in the case of the Steam editions, it's my understanding that as AoE 2 is far more popular, the devs have mostly ignored supporting AoM in favor of AoE 2. I really do not care for the 'settlement' rule in Age of Mythology, wherein you can only build Town Centers on top of pre-determined settlement locations, whereas in AoE 2 you can build them anywhere like any other structure. Mythology's god powers are neat, but ultimately just make the game more chaotic. Thats the things that i can remember atleastĪs someone who has put a lot of time into both games (their CD releases, not the Steam editions), as much as I like AoM, I absolutely feel that AoE 2 is still the better game. To reach the limit of population you need to occupy settlements as far as i remember. ![]() Less players per map and maps are smaller than in AoE There are hero units (they dont level, but they are strong against mythical units) While the whole spearmen being good vs cavalary, etc counter system is in place, mythical units have an advantage over most of them, especially with the special abilities that they have Some conventional resource gathering mechanics are also different for every raceĪfter choosing your civilization you also have to select your primary god (which basically gives you a selection of various things, including a selection of secondary gods)Įvery time you progress to the next age, you also select a secondary god There is an aditional resource called favor which is required to build mythical units and mythical upgradesĬivilizations acquire favor very differently, greeks need temples and villagers praying at them, egyptians build monuments, pharaohs can boost building efficiency including monuments (who is also amazingly powerful unit which means you have to balance things), norse earn favor by fighting and atlanteans gain favor depending on how many town settlements you have (controlling the map and expanding is important then) which obviously means quite a big change in tactics and playstyle Previous sticky threads (Good resources for finding games to play): r/lowendgaming - Game suggestions for yesterday's hardware This includes key resellersįor more information about these rules click here This includes referral links.ĭon't enable, encourage, or link to piracy.
